Mark Mothersbaugh & David Keith: two great TTM returns

Today’s mail brought back two signed custom collages: one from DEVO co-founder and composer Mark Mothersbaugh, and another from actor David Keith! These returns cover a lot of familiar music, television, and movies, and I’m excited to share both finished pieces.

My Mark Mothersbaugh TTM return, with a personal message on my custom DEVO collage — October 26, 2026.

Mark Mothersbaugh — DEVO, soundtracks, and a personal note

My Mark Mothersbaugh TTM return, with a personal message on my custom DEVO collage — October 26, 2026.

First up is Mark Mothersbaugh, who added a wonderful personal touch to my collage. His message begins “Hello, Scott!” and includes “from your pal” along with his signature. That kind of friendly note makes a through-the-mail return feel especially personal.

Mark is a co-founder, singer, and keyboardist of DEVO, the band whose blend of electronics, art, humor, and unconventional performances made them a defining presence in new wave. Their 1980 album Freedom of Choice included “Whip It,” which became their best-known hit. The red energy-dome look and yellow outfits are a big part of the visual identity I wanted to celebrate in this design.

His creative career also reaches far into film and television. Through his music-production company Mutato Muzika, founded in 1989, Mark has composed music for projects including Pee-wee’s Playhouse, Rugrats, The Royal Tenenbaums, The Life Aquatic, and Thor: Ragnarok. His other film credits include Happy Gilmore and The LEGO Movie.

He is a visual artist as well, with work shown in exhibitions including his retrospective Myopia. There’s a remarkable range behind a career that many people first connect with DEVO. Having his autograph on my own collage is a special addition to the collection.

A little “Whip It” to celebrate

Here’s DEVO’s official “Whip It” music video—a fitting companion to this return and a reminder of the band’s unmistakable sound and style.

David Keith — a career full of memorable roles

My David Keith custom collage, signed in blue and returned through the mail — October 26, 2026.

The second return is from David Keith, who signed my career collage in blue across the white autograph area. This design brings together several sides of his screen career, including the baseball role that immediately calls one particular movie line to mind.

David’s performance in An Officer and a Gentleman (1982) earned him two Golden Globe nominations in 1983: Supporting Actor and New Star of the Year – Actor. He followed that with the leading role in The Lords of Discipline in 1983.

Stephen King fans will recognize him as Andrew McGee, father of Drew Barrymore’s Charlie, in the original Firestarter (1984). He also played the cowboy in The Indian in the Cupboard (1995), another familiar part of the career represented in my collage.

His filmography includes The Great Santini, Brubaker, and The Two Jakes, and his work extends behind the camera: he directed The Curse and The Further Adventures of Tennessee Buck. From serious drama to thrillers, family films, and comedy, he has built a varied body of work.

“I want Parkman.”

And, of course, David played Jack Parkman in Major League II (1994). His swaggering ballplayer makes a memorable rival for Charlie Sheen’s Rick “Wild Thing” Vaughn.

That brings us to the clip below and Sheen’s line: “I want Parkman.” Parkman is David Keith’s character, and this showdown is a great way to revisit that part of his career alongside the signed collage.

Thank you to Mark Mothersbaugh and David Keith for taking the time to sign my collages and send them back. Two very different careers, two new signed pieces, and another great day for the collection!
